Title: Expanding Our Pattern Block Fraction Repertoire

How I would use this in my classrrom: We just began a unit on fractions. This lesson, works with the same pattern blocks that our math curriculm has, even the same colors. It will be a good introductory lesson, discussing the part to whole relationship with fractions. This lesson offers a corresponding worksheet to use while students are examining the pattern blocks and their relationships. I like this lesson because it involves a hands on activity, allows students to work cooperatively, and also allows time for whole group discussion.
